PCR 9th Annual Brooklyn Back-to-School Carnival

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our 9th Brooklyn Back-to-School Carnival!🎒📚

We're incredibly grateful to our community leaders, sponsors, volunteers, staff, and all the community members and families who came out on Saturday, August 22nd.

Our annual Back-to-School event is all about making sure our students and families feel supported and equipped with the resources they need for a successful school year. We hope everyone had fun completing the BINGO quest, found helpful resources, and most importantly, enjoyed spending the day together!

Find Your Voice. Show Your Beats.

Let Music Be a Way for Teens to Care for Themselves

Music is more than just entertainment. It can help teens relax, relieve stress, and express themselves.

Through music, there's no need to worry about doing things "right," and no musical experience is required. Teens can follow the rhythm, stay present in the moment, express their emotions through sound, and create and connect with their peers.

Relax. Express Emotions Spark Creativity. Connect with Others

Pop-Up Cooling Station

A huge thank you to our amazing volunteers who dedicated their time to help out at our pop-up cooling station! 🌞From giving out refreshing glasses of ice-cold water to distributing fresh fruits and cooling towels, our volunteers went above and beyond to ensure that everyone stayed safe and cool. Our cooling station also had misting fans and cooling towels, providing a place of relief for those who needed it most.

Orientation

We welcomed our newest volunteers to PCR at orientation! We can't wait to see what they accomplish and how they grow along the way.

PCR Park Wellness Program

Week 4 of the PCR Park Wellness Program invites participants to explore the theme "How I Take Care of Myself" by writing down one thing they do to recharge, destress, and enjoy the activities that help them feel good. This session highlights the personal routines and hobbies that restore us, reminding everyone that self-care looks different for each person and that taking time for joy is essential.

Week 5 of the PCR Park Wellness Program invited participants to explore the theme "Gratitude and Happiness" by writing down one thing they are grateful for and sharing what brings them joy. Taking a moment to notice the good things—big or small—is such an easy way to lift your mood and shift your perspective.

Week 6 of our PCR Park Wellness Program focused on the importance of having a support circle and knowing that you are not alone. Participants were encouraged to think about the people they trust and answer one simple question about who makes them feel safe. This activity reminded participants that identifying trusted and supportive people is an important part of emotional wellness and building strong connections.

Neighborhood in Motion

Our participants are watching a variety of films for inspiration, exploring different storytelling techniques, and learning what goes into creating a great video. Now, they're filming interviews and beginning to bring their own videos to life.

Food Distribution

Access to healthy, nutritious food is a fundamental pillar of community well-being.

During our recent food distribution, residents received fresh cauliflower, pineapples, and ginger to bring home and enjoy with their families. Thank you to everyone who help make these distributions possible and supports our community!

Parent-Teen Relationship Workshop

Meaningful communication is what turns everyday challenges into real connection. Taking the time to truly listen, share openly, and meet each other where you are is what builds a lasting, resilient family bond.

A huge thank you to all the families who showed up and participated in our Parent-Child Relationship Workshop Series! Moving through the separate parent and teen sessions and coming together for the joint workshop took genuine commitment and heart.

Proud to present this series in partnership with NYU Langone Health.

HENY Bronx Zoo

Exploring NYC, one adventure at a time! Through our Historic Exploration of New York (HENY) Program, our youth spent a fantastic day at the iconic Bronx Zoo. The kids had a great time learning about wildlife, nature, and animal conservation from around the world!

Youth Space

Our Youth Space provides teen volunteers a safe, judgment-free environment to relax, enjoy pizza, and have honest conversations about life. From topics such as school, friendships, family, or mental health, every discussion is built on trust and respect.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for another meaningful evening!

Baby Play Day

A strong parent-child bond begins from the earliest years. Our Baby Play Day gave parents and their children a special opportunity to connect, play, and grow together. Through colorful toys, different textures and touch, and music, children explored their senses while supporting their early development.

MOCA Guided Tour

Our youth recently had the opportunity to learn about the history of Chinatown. They learned about the stories behind Chinatown's historic buildings and landmarks, and discovered the significance of the statues of Dr. Sun Yat-sen and Confucius. Thank you to the Museum of Chinese in America for the wonderful guided tour!
