November News: A Month of Thanks

Join us in a recap of this month's events, in which we give thanks back to our community in a number of ways!

From our Turkey and Chicken Giveaway with Council member Alexa Avilés on November 16 and Community Thanksgiving Meal Giveaway with UnitedHealthcare on November 22, we joyfully distributed free and healthy meals for families to enjoy together, spreading warmth and smiles to our wonderful community.

Blooming Hope: The Daffodil Project Honors 9/11 Victims

The community's participation in The Daffodil Project, a symbolic and impactful initiative, serves as a heartfelt tribute to the victims of September 11, fostering unity, hope, and resilience through the planting of daffodil bulbs as a living memorial.

Mental Health Conversation

On November 8th, we held a mental health conversation, led by mental health education specialist Echo Song. This conversation helped us understand the importance of mental health and relieved stress and strong bonds with families and friends.

Bystander Intervention Training

In our diverse society, we addressed the issue of discrimination. Community members attended a special lecture that delved deep into the root causes of discrimination and the actions we could take to stop it. Professional speakers shared their insights and practical experiences, helping us better understand and respond to discrimination.

Combatting Electronic Benefit Theft

In our community, there has been a concerning rise in instances of families experiencing electronic theft of benefits, particularly those associated with programs like SNAP. Over the past few weeks, we have provided assistance to no fewer than 60 individuals grappling with the unauthorized compromise of their benefit resources.

Adult Art Class

Every Friday, members of the community join us for our free art class- an opportunity for parents to express their creativity and find a new hobby.
